Met Office issues thunder warning for parts of Wales

THE Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for parts of Wales today.

Up to 40mm of rain is forecast to fall as the Atlantic low sweeps across Britain. In the worst affected areas, lightning is expected to be "frequent", along with hail and strong winds.

Some online forecasters suggest the conditions are ripe for "rotation/funnel development".

The unseasonal weather is being blamed on a stronger-than-usual jetstream running across southern Britain.
